Point Groups

A lot of people live stressful lives and struggle to really connect to a local church.

We don’t think connecting to a church should be so difficult. We understand what it feels like to do life disconnected from others, which is why we’ve made it simple to get plugged in to Point Groups.

Point Groups

FAQs

What are Point Groups, and why should I join one?

Point Groups are gatherings of people who meet regularly to study the Bible, pray, and support one another. Joining a Point Group helps you connect with others, grow in your faith, and find a supportive community. Check out our list of groups above to find one that fits your “Season of Life”!

How do I join a Point Group?

You can join a Point Group by signing up right here on our website, visiting the Info Center in the lobby after a service, or contacting our Point Team at groups@pointharbor.com.

What happens when I join?

You’ll be contacted by your group leader and given all the particulars you’ll need to know. Expect to get information like the exact address for the meeting, parking information, and how to get the Point Group handouts. Make sure you check your phone!

When and where do Point Groups meet?

Point Groups meet at various times and locations, including homes throughout Hampton Roads and at Point Harbor. You can find specific details on meeting times and places in the Point Group finder. If you can’t make every meeting, DON’T WORRY. Just let your leader know!

What types of Point Groups are available?

We offer a variety of Point Groups, including those based on age, gender, interests, and life stages (e.g., young adults, couples, seniors, parents). Remember, if your church is your extended spiritual family, your Point Group is your immediate family! It’s best to choose a family that’s in your stage of life.

Can I try out a group before committing?

Yes! We just ask that you stick it out for a few weeks! If you end up in a group that is just not for you, let your leader know and we’ll reach out for next steps.

Is childcare available during Point Group meetings?

Some Point Groups offer childcare, while others do not. Please check the group description or contact the group leader to find out if childcare is provided. Childcare is usually $5 per child, per evening.

Do I need to be a member of the church to join a Point Group?

No, you do not need to be a member of our church to join a Point Group. Our groups are open to anyone looking to grow in their faith and connect with others.

What should I expect during a Point Group meeting?

A typical Point Group meeting includes time for fellowship, discussion of the Point Group Handout and/or study, prayer, and sometimes light refreshments or a meal. Each group may have a slightly different format, but the goal is to create a welcoming and supportive environment.

What Is The Required Commitment?

Joining a Point Group requires a 8‑week commitment to attend the weekly meetings and to do the handout ahead of time.  Obviously, allowances are made for sickness, vacation, work conflicts, and other special events…but not much more!  We have found that this commitment is the key to strong relationships and healthy groups.
